NETWORK OF UGANDAN RESEARCHERS AND RESEARCH USERS (NURRU)
NURRU is a membership organisation. The current 49 members have 34 NGOs, 5 Departments of Makerere University – a Public university, 5 public institutions, 4 private universities, and 1 faith based organisation. All the member organisations are legally registered. The NURRU Constitution provides for the organisational structure consisting of the Annual General Assembly, the Board of Directors, and the Secretariat.
The Board of Directors is composed of ten members that are elected by the General Assembly. The members serve for a period of three years, renewable only once. The Board of Directors has three sub-committees: Research Directorate, Cooperate service directorate, Business development services Directorate.
The Secretariat implements NURRU’s programme and is responsible for its day-to-day operations and financial Application. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) heads the Secretariat and reports to the Board of Directors. The Chief Executive Officer is assisted by a cadre of staff to run the organisation, including management of the three sub committees.
